NLP is the abbreviation for neuro-linguistic programming. NLP uses languages of the mind to achieve your specific and desired outcomes consistently. 

Neuro means the nervous system or the mind. Your brain or mind processes your experience and reality through the five senses. The five senses are visual (see), auditory(hear), kinesthetic (feel), olfactory (smells ), and gustatory (tastes). 

When using NLP correctly, you are congruent with your goals, beliefs, and values about yourself.

It is the use of linguistics, language, and nonverbal communication such as body language to represent the mind and give it meaning in terms of pictures sounds feelings, smells, words, or self-talk.

Real change happens by using your mind’s imagination to achieve your goals. NLP is a way to communicate to your brain, a moving picture with bright colors and all the sounds and feelings of success. 

When you tell yourself a story of what you want and need in your life, your self-talk is centered around using language that builds a picture of pretending your desired goals already happen. 

Here are some NLP tips that help you fast-track your success:

The difference between State vs Goal.

Your goal or outcome is different from what you value or state. What you value is verbalized ambiguously.  You can write down your affirmations but there are no steps to get you there. What you value may motivate you to feel that you can have it now. 

You cannot feel yourself toward success. It’s about being motivated to take action. You achieve because you take action. You set and achieve your daily performance goals. 

Answer these questions. Remember a goal is stated specifically and positively.  

Step 1: What specifically do you want and what will you see when you have it? 

Step 2: Specify Your Outcome

  • What will you see, hear, or feel when you have it? 
  • Write your stories with the attitude as if you already have it now. Make it compelling. Insert yourself in the future picture and dissociate. 

Dissociation is when you feel disconnected from your present self and the world around you. 

Step 3:  Specify your present situation.

  • Where are you now?  What is your present situation now? 

Be associated with all the internal feelings and memories of the last time you were confident about achieving your other successes as you are going to achieve this goal. 

Step 4:  Specify Evidence Procedures

  • How will you know when you have it?
  • How will you think differently when you have it? Have you done this before? Do you know anyone else who has?

Step 5: Is your goal congruently desirable

  • What will this outcome get for you or allow you to do? 
  • What painful conditions will be eliminated when you have it? 
  • How do you know this is worth doing? 

Step 6: Is it self-initiated and self-maintained? 

  • Is it only for you?  

Step 7: Is it appropriately contextualized? 

  • Where, when, how, and with whom do you want it? 

Step 8: What resources are needed?

  • What do you have now and what do you need to get your outcome?  
  • Have you ever had or done this before?
  • Do you know anyone who has?
  • Can you act as if you have it now?

Step 9: Is it ecological?

  • For what purpose do you want this?
  • What will you gain or lose if you have it?
  • What will happen if you get it?
  • What won’t happen if you get it?
  • What will happen if you don’t get it?
  • What won’t happen if you get it?

There are some conditions for your goals. Using sensory-based descriptions and words and writing down your answers to the questions above are essential mechanisms for your mind to get the steps to your success. 

The first step is that your goal is positively stated, specifically and your attitude is that it is achievable. 

This goal should increase your choices and ecology. Ecology is the practice of benefiting others or yourself and causing minimal damage. Meaning is your goal good for you, others, and the universe? 

Like with anything else, your goals are something you must initiate, start, and maintain.
